UniqueLA Summer Show Recap
UniqueLA rocked it with their inaugural Summer show last weekend. Held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, the change in venue brought fresh scene on the Westsiiide! The whirlwind weekend was filled with energy, smiling faces, held lots of style and great design.
Paper fringe and paper airplanes greeted you at the entrance!
And there were lots of goodies to be had.
The Continuous Line had my favorite booth. With black wood walls, t-shirts in an array of wonderful colors, and a plinko board that gave each customer the chance of winning a free shirt or getting a percentage off their purchase, the booth rocked. I love their saying, "Don't Stop. Stay Continuous" and love their CA shirt that read, "Buy Local. Keep California Continuous." If that saying does not describe UniqueLA, I don't know what does.
Magnetic Grain takes reclaimed wood and makes it art. The pieces snap together and connect magnetically. Hooray for sustainability.
Another favorite booth was Sass and Peril. I love their animals and all of their prints, especially the hearts ;)
We were across the way from WhyrHymer and I could not stop staring at their ultra cool furniture and lamps. Loved how they made their space a little showroom.
There was a lot of cool jewelry at the show, but none as awesome as Voz. Their hand painted wood pieces are pieces of art. I love the geometric shapes.
Another sustainable favorite are the magic wallets by Magic Industrie. Handmade by Ryan, the wallets are up-cycled from vintage books making each a one of a kind piece.
Stationery is one of my main loves, and Spiffy Press' cards and table display are both awesome. I need some of those "OMG" and "XOXO" cards.
Another favorite was Fluent Flyers. Loved their airplane design, loved that the airplanes were all heading to LA, loved their prints and shirts.
And finally, my table display! I'd spent about a month planning the look, color scheme, and style of it all. Wanting it to look festive and cheery with a touch casual love, I based the layout on various dessert tables I've seen on wedding blogs. I don't think I can ever escape weddings ;)
This was taken Friday afternoon when we finished setting up.
Saturday morning we reinforced the poof/lantern wall and styled the jewelry on each table element. I love the various layers of detail, happy colors, and the overall look of the table.
A few favorite details of my display are a Hello Kitty covered in hearts, pretty white flower frame, and dish of stickers and business cards. The yellow paper says, "we heart handmade. honey my heart items are designed, assembled, and packaged by hand in Santa Barbara, CA."
Love these colors!! Can't wait to put them up in my living room.
Sunday's shoes! All Cole Haan and ultra comfy.
Hubs and bro taking their stress out ;)
I couldn't do this show with out them. They're my salesmen, investors, muscle, handymen, and food runners.
The official honey my heart staff photo, summer series. We love Oh Snap Studios.
Now the goodies. I love shopping at UniqueLA. Above is a ridic pocked watch necklace from LOVE NAIL TREE.
Goodies from Sass & Peril, Superstar Lipline, ring from Royalistique, and turtle with fro print from Fluent Flyers.
I am beyond honored to be a part of UniqueLA. It's one thing to participate in a show, it's another to be a member of Unique's amazing community. The designers are among the best, the staff go above and beyond, the shoppers are wonderfully supportive. It feels good to have so many people working towards the progression of the creative community. Cheers to UniqueLA for loving local independent designers and giving us a place to showcase. Can't wait until the next show.
