Simply Pies

This adorable little store opened up shop in place of our wedding bakery about a year ago. It is a tiny little storefront, on a kinda busy street, that just says "welcome" :)

I'm not sure why it took us so long to visit Simply Pies, but we are so happy that we finally did.

Cute decor, friendly staff, awesome menu, love!!

We brought home two frozen mini chicken pot pies and one frozen mini mixed berry pie. After some time in the oven (hooray for convenience), they were ready!

With a golden crust and glistening top, the chicken pot pie was such great comfort food. The chicken pieces were huge, sauce was light, veggies plentiful, and it was filling.

But not filling enough to miss a slice of pie ;)

Perfectly delicious for a fall day, the homemade taste and local ingredients made each bite a treat :)

Happy Thursday everyone.

Ring Night and Filigree Flower Rings

Tonight is Lakers Ring Night! As the final celebration and reward from last season's championship, the team will receive their 2009-10 championship rings before they open the 2010-11 season. I am so amped to watch the ceremony and so excited for this new season to start.

In honor of their Ring Night, I created a few special rings for the
esty shop. Keeping with the filigree flower theme from yesterday, the rings are in the same style and come in different colors.

They are adjustable, delicate, and sweet :) Their dimension and details come together as a subtle statement maker.

Check the rings out here!!

Happy day to everyone :)

Filigree Flower Necklaces

I love flowers. I love the edges and delicacy of doilies. I love the look of filigree. I love flowers on flowers. Here are a few honey my heart necklaces that I love.

Each necklace contains a filigree flower cup that holds flower charms and hangs daintily on a chain. I think the filigree detail adds a fun dimension and texture to the look.

Filigree Flower Cup with light green, pink, and yellow roses.

Filigree Flower Cup Pendant with a deep yellow daisy, and yellow and pink roses.

Single rose in a filigree flower cup.

Pearl and Filigree Flower Necklace. This new listing is available with a hot pink or burgundy rose.

Rings will be up tomorrow :)

Birdie Birthday Earrings

Today is my cousin L's birthday. She's a fun college girl with super cool style and I wanted to gift her with some one of a kind pieces. She's really into earrings, ones that dangle with statement and flair, and sometimes mixes and matches them. With that in mind, I played around with various earring supplies and beads I had on hand, and put together a mis-matched yet similarly styled earring set :)

One earring is a chandelier style with various hanging beads and a fun bird charm. The other one is simpler, has a matching bird charm, and more neutral beads. They can be worn together or separately.

A close up.

And with a gold wreath card.

I've been spending a lot of time breaking down pieces of jewelry that I own and restyling the pieces with beads and charm supplies that I've purchased. It's a fun thing and I hope to share the styles with you all soon!

Hope everyone has a great weekend :)

Spirit Day

Today is Spirit Day.

"The idea behind Spirit Day, first created by teenager Brittany McMillan earlier this month, is a simple one, not dissimilar to the idea of "Spirit Week" held in many high schools, and can be summed up in three words: Everyone Rally Together.

Spirit Day honors the teenagers who had taken their own lives in recent weeks. But just as importantly, it's also a way to show the hundreds of thousands of LGBT youth who face the same pressures and bullying, that there is a vast community of people who support them." -excerpt from here.

To show my support, I will be wearing purple.

Honey My Heart Stickers

I've been exploring different packaging and gift wrap details for the honey my heart etsy shop and was really happy to discover the moo stickerbook. Each book holds 90 tiny stickers that measure 0.86"x 0.86". Made of vinyl with rounded edges, these are a perfect addition to my packaging and a great thing to include in orders :)

I love the cuteness of this stickerbook.

The images came out nicely. I can't wait to put the card stickers with cards and the jewelry stickers with jewelry :)

Fun detail in the back :)

I'm excited to include them in orders!!

Gold Wreath Cards

I've been really into wreathes lately and visiting lots of websites and blogs for diy inspiration. Since posting my wreath necklaces on Tuesday, I've been inspired to create cards that correspond with the necklace design. I browsed through a few scrapbook and sticker aisle at Michael's for wreath decals and die cuts, but found my favorite "wreath" in the baking aisle.

Enter: gold doilies.

A simple cut around the center of the doily, and instant wreath :)

I stuck with the asymmetrical look of the necklaces and added textured flowers, fun pearls, and colorful layers. These are a few of my favorites.

A daisy chain wreath :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

Wreath Charm Necklaces

I like wreathes. I like their circular shape, their statement making quality, their sense of welcome (since they're usually hung on front doors), and that items can be placed on them. They seem to be most popular during the Christmas holiday, but I've seen Spring time/Easter wreathes and Thanksgiving ones as well.

When I found these gold plated circular charms, I knew they would be perfect for a statement charm necklace, using the idea of a wreath as inspiration.

With a few flower charms in different colors, sizes, and textures, my wreath charm necklace was created.

And since I've been leaning towards a more asymmetrical aesthetic, I chose to design these wreaths to be heavier on one side. It just speaks to me.

Here are a few pieces in summery colors and the newest with Fall colors. I have started to list some in the esty shop and more will be listed in the next few days :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

COUNT ME OUT

Today is National Coming Out Day. I was made aware of the COUNT ME OUT social media ambush through the White Knot. COUNT ME OUT is a campaign whose goal is for social media users to “donate” their main profile image to include the word OUT or ALLY on National Coming Out Day and through the week.

As an ally, I've changed my fb and twitter profile photos to the following:

I have also decided to wear my white knot (which is usually on my purse) on my rainbow beads necklace (and other necklaces) throughout the week.

I love how this small symbol makes a statement. Be visible.
