Semi DIY: HOORAY & hearts Cake Toppers

In preparation for Hannah's 1st birthday, I have been buying lots of party details like tassels, confetti, paper flowers, and cake toppers. When I saw the HOORAY Cake Toppers by Oh Joy, I knew I had to have them. The colors are so great, andI wanted to spice them up just a little bit more. I thought about dipping the bottoms in gold paint or doing glittered polka dots on the letters, but I was drawn to some pink heart confetti I purchased for a Valentine's Day project years back.

Glue was added to the bottom portion of the letters, then the mini heart confetti was generously sprinkled on, and then shaken off.

HOORAY!!

Can't wait to add these to Hannah's dessert table.

Current Production: Rings and Rings and Rings

With Unique LA about 2 weeks away, I have carved out some time to spend on the bench and make some rings and things. Rings are one of my most favorite pieces to make. It's a routine of bending and heating and hammering and it starts all over again. And I love that gold filled and sterling silver wire can be formed into beautiful circles.

One afternoon and these were all made! Stacking rings in sterling silver, gold filled, rose gold filled, and gold filled twist textured. There are also various rings and studs and pendants included in the photo. All of which I'm so happy with. I am hoping to build up a nice inventory to carry me through the Spring and Summer shows.

Heart on Top Rings! Always love making these.

And love stacking them, too!

Hope your week is great!!

Valentine's Day and Hannah Fun

We are in the midst of Valentine's Day prep and our house is full of hearts! Cards are being prepped, photo shoots planned, and jewelry packaged, all while Hannah looks on. I am so thankful to be able to spend so much time with Hannah and have her observe the business. She is so active and interested in everything, especially paper products, bright colors, and delicate jewelry. Here are a few glimpses of an average home/work day.

Hannah oversees the photo shoot. Hoping she approves it!!

One of the approved shots!

Then a little reorganization of my layered hearts backdrop.

And getting into the action!

I really enjoy getting into the Valentine's Day spirit, and am so happy I get to share it with Hannah.

My Mini Heart Chain Rings

Inspired by the delicacy and power of a figure skater, I updated the My Mini Heart Ring design with a light touch. Love is such a powerful emotion, yet so airy and joyful. This ring is a great representation of love.

A subtle chain holds the ring together, while a heart is at it's center. I think the look is graceful, elegant, and strong.

A limited batch of these rings will be premiering at POOL Tradeshow, available in my shop next week and through Spring! I have been wearing mine all week and hope everyone loves it.

Hearts in Love

Inspired by my pregnancy/labor/the new addition to my family and the thought of a love so deep, I combined two classic honey my heart designs into one! Here a large heart holds two or three mini hearts. I like to think that the mini hearts represent members of a family that you hold dear.

Fall in Love Necklaces

One of my most popular styles is the "My Mini Heart" necklaces. Coming in 1, 2, or 3 hearts that sit softly in the middle of a necklace, the design is simple and delicate. It is also one of my favorite designs, as I form each heart by hand and know that no two hearts are the same. I wanted to update this style and keep it's integrity, yet offer something a bit different. A little discussion with friend J. B. and I am happy to present the "Fall in Love" necklaces and earrings.

A series of connected hearts fall freely on a delicate chain or ear wire. They're small and move and are just so sweet. Available in a set of 3 or 4 hearts, I am in love with them :)

Hope you fall in love with these pieces, too!

My Mini Heart Rings

Heart rings are a honey my heart staple. I shape, form, and forge each heart piece from sterling silver or gold fill wire, then solder ring bands to each, finishing with lots of hammering, tumbling, and polishing. Each heart piece is given the utmost attention and is truly unique. I like to tell customers that if they bought one and their best friend bought one, each heart piece would still be one of a kind. I like that detail about my heart jewelry. When I found out I was pregnant, I stopped soldering. I didn't want to breathe some of the fumes or use a torch. I still wanted to continue to offer heart rings, but knew I couldn't offer the soldered ones for the next few months. There was a lot of experimenting with sterling silver and gold fill wire, and I am happy to have found a very good alternative!

Pre-linked chain allow me to form continuous hearts without soldering them, and these hearts are now wrapped/hugged by sterling silver or gold fill wire. These rings are still hammered and tumbled for strength, and then polished. The care and craftsmanship is still of utmost importance, and these rings are definitely a happy addition to the hmh classic collection.

My Mini Heart Rings are now in the shop!!

Heart Shaped Balloon

I splurged on a heart shaped balloon by Geronimo Balloons for my 30th last weekend. It's huge and white and has beautiful pastel and neon tassels attached to it. This balloon is amazing... and when I took the above photo of the balloon filled up, my own heart filled up! Happy Valentine's Day all.

DIY: Mini Heart Cards

Hearts are one of my favorite shapes and I wanted to create little heart shaped labels for Valentine's Day card and gift embellishments. A little die cute heart would be great, but hearts as mini cards are even better. Some brainstorming and practice with my heart punch brought some lovely results. Check below for the step by step DIY.

+You will need a heart punch and some paper. Card stock is fine, but pink glitter paper was necessary ;)
+Fold paper in half. You can use a bone folder for a clean edge.

+Turn the heart punch upside down to see the paper line up. Insert paper with the folded edge on the left, leave a little room on the left side of the heart so the punch doesn't punch all the way through the paper.
+Once punched, the heart will have a little flat edge on the left, but that keeps both sides together.

+Heart opens up and you can write a little note inside.
+If you open it up all the way, you can play with a fun connected hearts design!

A little embellishment goes a long way.

And a little note is always cheerful!

Attached these mini heart cards to your gift tags, mini envelopes, cards, whatever you like.

Have a lovely Thursday!

Heart NY

Since I will be in NY for a show, I wanted to create a little something special for NY shoppers. Something personalized and exclusively available for the show, something that would give back to the NY community, something full of love.

These little brass hearts are stamped with "n" and "y" and come as a pair of rings and earrings. Special and personal, half of proceeds of these pieces will be donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy relief.

Hoping the NY crowd loves these!

Be on the look our for more personalized pieces for LA & SF.
