Cheers Cupcake Wrappers

Inspired by my Three Cheers post from last week and in celebration of hubby's bday, I wanted to create some extra cheery cupcake wrappers for the cupcakes we purchased this weekend.


We took advantage of all of the cupcake options in LA and visited four cupcakeries: Yummy Cupcakes, Famous Cupcakes, Mrs. Beaseley's, and Sprinkles.


I then printed out a wrapper template and began cutting pieces of colorful paper.


Then punch "cheers" or any other celebration punch you choose :) I'm really into the festive details.


Tape the edges together and you're done :)




Place each cupcake in a wrapper and they're ready!

The Manila Machine!

After months of hoping to catch the Manila Machine, we finally were able to enjoy yummy food from the first Filipino food truck last Saturday! It was parked at Gigi's Farmers Market in the Americana in Glendale. We showed up for lunch and were excited to try the sliders and dessert.


Just some of the menu :) We were bummed that the ube (purple yam) cupcakes were sold out. Next time!

Sarap means tasty. And yes it was tasty!




We ordered two sliders. On the left is the longanisa slider, which is a sweet pork and garlic sausage, topped with caramelized onion, in a pan de sal roll. On the right is the original manila dip shredded chicken adobo and caramelized onions on a pan de sal roll with dipping sauce! Both so tasty, just like home cooking.


And one of my fave desserts, turon, was also available. It is banana wrapped in egg roll skin and deep fried. The Manila Machine tops their turon with caramel sauce, which is such a nice and extra treat.

I cannot wait to eat at the Manila Machine again :) Check out their schedule on twitter.

Weekender: Family and Food

The weekend was fun and very, very hot! We were in LA for a fun family party and lots of food :) Below are a few fave photos from the weekend.

There was a beautiful 75th birthday celebration for grandma at the Mountain Gate Country Club. We saw lots of family and had a great time.

To beat the heat on Saturday, we headed to Santa Monica. Nothing beats an ocean view on a clear day.


Of course we had to hit up Sprinkles for some goodies.


And Sunday commenced with yummy Korean food at Chodang Tofu. I got the bulgogi, mmm.


Hubs got the spicy pork tofu soup. It was steaming when it got to the table and very spicy.

Paper Anniversary

Today is my 1 year wedding anniversary! Since it is the paper anniversary, we decided to purchase tickets to various concerts since they fit into the "tradition" of paper and live music adds an extra punch to the gift. We saw Phoenix last week and have two more concerts to go :)

Three Cheers Gift Topper

Inspired by this paper gift topper and in need of creating some fun packaging for a birthday present, I put together this "three cheers" gift topper. Like a bow or curly ribbon, this topper is festive and statement making :)



If you know me, you know I love a Martha Stewart craft punch. I've DIY'd a few things here and there, and amassed a nice collection of punch options. Since the creation is for a birthday party, I knew the "cheers" punch was the best bet. And isn't the party hat a great touch?


First step was to cut strips of paper in various lengths. Yellow is one of my favorite colors and it's brightness works well for a party.


I punched each the center of each strip of paper.


Then cut the top half of the strip off so the "cheers" stands alone.


Next, I popped the letters up from the strip so that they were standing up.


I repeated this process on the other strips of paper in different lengths. Next up was to fold them into circles of various sizes and layer them inside of each other, securing with tape and glue.


Three cheers!!




The topper was attached to a gift with glue and secured with ribbon.




Hip, hip, hooray for the finished product and for the weekend :) Hope you all have a great wonderful weekend!

moo minicards!

As part of my packaging I wanted to include business/contact cards with each order. I had originally wanted to diy each card, but quickly changed my mind when I remembered moo. Minicards were always on my mind back in the wedding planning days and since I never utilized the idea, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity. My order came in a couple of weeks ago and I can't wait to put them in all the free lunch fish bowls in the restaurants around SB :)

I chose 5 photos, each with a different honey my heart creation, for the cards. The back side of each card has some info and links to my etsy, twitter, and blog. I totally forgot to add my email (oops) and will definitely add it to the next batch of minicards.

Weekender: Burger Bus and Street Art

It all started with a tweet from the Burger Bus. They would be at an art, live music, fun block part off of State Street downtown. There wasn't much info about the event, but we knew their burgers were delicious, so we had to go to enjoy a yummy meal :)

The Burger Bus! Their menu is simple, local, and fresh.


CB&J™ - a 1/3 pound patty covered in melted cheese, sweet grilled onions and seasonal Mama's Preserves jelly, all piled high on a toasted ciabatta roll. Spicy and sweet deliciousness.


Cheeseburger with all of the fixings! I love the ciabatta bread.

The block party was alive with local artists and new pieces on a building.

I loved the energy and creativity of that afternoon. It was great to see people out, art on the sides of a building, and everything just feeling alive. Really wish SB has more of these events in the future.
