Cards to Post

While recently browsing moo.com to update my business mini cards, I found that they now offer postcards! For a while I had been toying with the idea of printing some of my stationery design. I still enjoy the handmade aspect and look, but I also wanted to try something new. The various printers I researched were fine, but I found that moo's postcard option was the best for me right now. And with their good quality/my continued good experience with them, why not?


So, I am really happy to share my new project with all of you! Yay!!

Here are both the original handmade card (above) and the printed postcard (below). The postcard's colors are deeper, the patterns and textures are easily seen, and the paper is of heavy stock with a nice shine.




I did notice that my cropping was a bit off and the glitter hearts did not shine as bright. But all in all, I am happy.

I can't wait to send some of them out and to see how they are received at the next show. Best thing is after you mail them, the postcards also double as prints to frame :)

Santa Barbara Historical Museum

A dear friend is getting married at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum this summer and described it quite nicely, so the hubs and I headed there last Saturday to check out the space. The museum houses exhibits and a gallery of the history of Santa Barbara, while the location also holds two beautifully simple Spanish style courtyards. It is private, intimate, accented by native plants and flowing fountains, and such a perfect place for a celebration.

The place had such a tranquil feel. I loved the open air, the old SB ambiance, the understated quality. It is quite a nice place to spend an afternoon lounging and taking life in :)

Friday Night Sushi

Sushi is usually reserved as a once a month indulgence. Hubs and I would pick a special night to go to one of our favorite spots, order multiple rolls and sashimi, and just enjoy. But with it being the season of Lent and no meat on Fridays, sushi has slowly become a sort of staple for our Friday night meal. I know we are only a couple of Fridays into Lent, but it's just been nice to spoil ourselves a little.

Here are a few of my favorites.

Purple Boxes, Beating Hearts

I recently purchased purple jewelry boxes to serve as updated honey my heart packaging for my upcoming Spring shows. I think the purple matches my logo and brand a bit more. Of course my beating hearts design was updated as well.


And beating hearts are so perfect for a night that the Lakers win a crazy 3OT game!!

For Japan With Love

My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan, and as a way of honoring the tragedy, I will be taking part in the Bloggers Day of Silence, tomorrow, March 18th. Together with over 200 bloggers, we will silence our blogs in hopes of taking the day to reflect on the disaster in Japan.

Recent Happenings

It has been an long week.

Last weekend my college friends returned to Santa Barbara to celebrate a birthday!


Then the leak in our bathroom, which was giving us and our apartment maintenance crew and plumber a 3 week headache, was finally fixed! Our bathroom looked like this for an entire Saturday and is slowly getting put back together.


I got sick :( But a bowl of pho was a great pick me up. I think I'm about 85% now.


And I am designing some necklaces for a friend's wedding!! Totally exciting stuff, really hope she likes everything.

I also have a few design shows I'll be participating in this Spring and Summer and some new necklaces in the works!

Puffy Heart Love

It has been a lovely week with lovely weather, little plans, and lovely (for the most part) Lakers.


My heart is full right now, you could even say it is puffy!


And so I present you with my puffy heart necklace. It is one of two puffy heart designs in my "a little bit vintage" collection.

LOK'D Jewelry by Gadgiz Galore

I was walking around browsing truckit vendor booths and this one caught my eye instantly. The jewelry had a mix of modern style, pyramid studs, futuristic feel, TRON style awesomeness. The booth design and setup made you want to linger and take in every detail. The whole package made me want to know more. After chatting with design mastermind, Jase, I found out that the building block of LOK'D jewelry is Lego! Each custom handmade piece is hand crafted using Lego pieces. Childhood toys re-purposed for today's jewelry? Yes, please!

Truckit Fest Recap

There is lots running through my mind this morning. The weekend was a whirlwind of food, family, friends, and fun. Here is a quick recap/photo heavy post about the truckit fest.

Truck it was an interesting event. Maybe I'm looking at it through vendor's eyes, maybe because it was their first event and there were some kinks to iron out, but let's just say it was interesting. Anyway, onto the fun stuff!

The food truck selection and the amount of food trucks there was amazing. We ate some favorites and sampled some new trucks!


Chunk-n-Chip. Their cookies come straight from the oven and are packed with natural ice cream. The warm/cold balance is great.


Moo-lan Rouge: red velvet and white chocolate fudge ice cream.


Fresh Fries. I love all things potato and this truck was definitely a must-try.


Stinky Pinky fries. Natural fries topped with grilled onion and thousand island dressing.


Jogasaki! Sushi in burrito form! This was my fave of the day.


The size of a burrito, ours was wrapped in rice paper and full of spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, avocado, crab, and rice. It was amaaaazing!!

The vendor area was packed with lots of talented artisans. I met a few I loved!


Lok'd. Custom made lego jewelry! Look out for a blog about this company later in the week. I'm in love with them.


Quiet Doing. Hand made accessories, vegan friendly, great designs.


Royalistique was our booth neighbor. The contemporary silver, gold, and platinum designs were so chic. And Roya was super cool, gave great advice, and was fun to chat with all day.
