Baby Shower Recap

My mother threw me a baby shower a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful Spring day, full of lots of family and friends, and great food! It was more of a party than a shower, a wonderfully warm celebration, and we definitely felt showered with LOVE.

Planned with great care, my mom took reign of the location, guests, food, and drinks, but I took reign of the design. It's hard to let go of all control, and since I have a lot of decor (poofs, tassels, fringe, etc) from all the shows we do, it's only natural to want to want to use them again and again! The room was full of bright colors and happy details. Below are a few of my favorite shots.

Our wedding cake toppers made a re-appearance on the dessert table. This time accompanied by a little addition :)

Pastries topped with hearts.

Our gift table. I am still overwhelmed with the outpouring of generosity and support.

A little vignette of flowers in baby's initial.

Similar to the hearts that topped the pastries, we had hearts on straws, too!

Baby shower games are pretty fun. We played a few games, my favorite being the guess the belly size game. All the men cut string and my aunt helped with seeing who was closest.

Here is a fun video Sonja shot during the game.

With cousin D :)

My sis sharing fun facts about pregnancy and birth.

Heart over belly photo with mine and husband's hands. My hands are swollen now. It's a bit much and I can't wear rings anymore.

With the amazing photographer and my cousin, Nicole Espina Photography. All photos but the last 2 are shot by Nicole.

And the fam! Pops took the photo.

Baby Shower Details

My mom is throwing my baby shower, but I told her I needed full reign on the design. It's something to keep my busy, something I like to do, and something that would ensure the shower was definitely me & hubs. It also allows me to add my aesthetic to the day as well as use the decor for our home and baby's space. The shower is in a few weeks, and I wanted to share a few of the details that are going into it.

Mood board of sorts with my favorite colors right now, lots of washi tape, and heart stickers.

Invitations. A little washi tape accent means no two invitations are alike!

Washi tape decorated dessert flags.

Tissue decor.

We are still playing around with the menu and desserts and registry, but it's nice to have the design all prepared. Hoping the day comes together nicely. Can't wait to decorate the lounge :)

UniqueLA Booth Decor

Vendors at UniqueLA are known for their amazing booth and table displays that showcase amazing style and detail at the shows. They fill every inch of their space with design, color, and aspects. It's each booth and table is like visiting each vendor's showroom. I love it because each vendor takes the time to cultivate their style and present their brand and aesthetic to the world.

With all of this in mind, I created a color scheme and planned to go high (wall display) and have lots of levels. Here are a few sneak peeks at what will be at my table.

The colors range from minty green and pistachio to pink and hot pink to lavender and plum.

Ribbon board to display handmade cards.

Birds! These were originally a display at a shoe store and were given to me when the display's season was over. They are a light wood tone, so I painted one side a shade of pink so that the gold necklaces would stand out.

I'm super excited and really hoping the look of the table remains cohesive and showcases my style/aesthetic. Can't wait to show you all the finished product!

Happy Thursday :)

Sneak Peeks for COFFEE on Sunday

In anticipation for this Sunday's Coffee at the French Press in downtown SB, I put together some new pieces for the holiday shoppers. They're all one of a kind dangling earrings with faceted beads and gold plated charms.

Fire-polished champagne colored beads and tiny gold leaf charms.

Light smoked topaz faceted beads and green beads.

Birdie earrings ;)

"I love Paris" shiny purple beads with Eiffel Tower and heart charms.

Coffee will be this Sunday from 11am to 4pm at the French Press, 1101 State Street in SB. If you're around, please stop by. Hope the event is a success!!

Happy weekend all :)

We believe handcrafted tchotchkes are life-enhancing. -Jonathan Adler

It had rained all week. Dreary, cold, wet days that were nice and quiet, but I need clear skies and bright light. With a rainy shopping Saturday in SB, we were hoping our Sunday trip to LA would yield both sun and fun.

We spent a lot of the day running around LA for unexpected presents and decided to stop by Jonathan Adler on Melrose. Having driven by the store many times, registering/creating a wish list there, loving the aesthetic, and on the look out for the perfect present for my banana/fruit loving cousin, it was the perfect place to start. And although the price point was a bit daunting, one or two little pieces could be special enough and add an irrevernt luxury to our home.

Their store windows, reflecting a sunny and lightly clouded sky, delighted the eye with pretty pottery and boxes with bows :)

A bed said "love" and lux and comfort.

Pottery was all around. I am in love with the man and woman bud vases on the table.

Color was always present.

Figurines of all kinds each had a home.

Sayings, like his manifesto, were all over the walls.

Laquer and bright colors and Larry & Balky added such fun to the place.

One of my favorite pieces were the salt and pepper shakers.

The store was filled with so much design, color, bright inspiration, and happy people and pieces that I had to come away with a purchase.

Tied nicely with a bow.

Hip, happy, and for the home.

An elephant ornament for the tree!

And a too cute poodle, too.

I am so glad the sun came out for Sunday :) It was a perfect day to run around town, in the hustle and bustle of the holidays, and enjoy the beauty of light, colors, and little design pieces.

Hope that your weekend was fab and that your holidays are gearing up to be great!!
