DIY: Love Expressions & Doily Cards

On the heels of last week's Doily and Hearts Cards, and inspired by last year's cards, comes another simple Valentine's Day card DIY. With the use of some letterpress love cards, these cards say "I love you" in different ways.

Ingredients for this DIY include heart and circle doilies, love cards (you can make your own or buy some from Paper Source), glue, and card stock.

Place the doilies and love cards as you please. Other details like glitter or washi tape can be additional embellishments, too.

I heart this one!

Something fun ;)

I can't wait to send some love this Valentine's Day.

Will you be sending out Valentine's cards this month?

DIY: Doily and Heart Cards

Doilies and hearts are my favorite. I like to incorporate them in my packaging, notes, envelopes, and cards designs. They're just so sweet and versatile! For Valentine's day I wanted to do an easy DIY that used doilies and hearts in sweet colors. A little glue and voila: Doily and Heart Cards.

Ingredients include doilies with centers cut out, embellished hearts of different sizes, glue, card stock.

Affix the doily to the center of the card and add hearts as you see fit.

I like the asymmetrical look with hearts on one side.

Different colors and embellishments on the hearts add good textures and depths.

And there you have it. Simple and lovely!

I will have another Valentine's Day card DIY next week. Happy Friday.

Peachy Give Love Cards

One of my 2012 goals is to mail birthday cards to my friends and family. I am an old school lady when it comes to birthday greetings (as well as congratulations, holiday, sorrow, and just because) and think sending out a card is like sending out a little bit of love. Plus, the more love sent out should mean there is more love coming back :)

To add to my collection of cards to mail and to update one of my favorite designs, I created a peach/orangey version of the Give Love Cards.

Little hearts are always included in the envelope.

Happy Friday all :) Hope that your holiday weekend is full of love.

Bright Stripes

Because sometimes a little bit of glitter and some bright colors are necessary.

One of my favorite calligraphers tweeted a link to Americans Love Letters yesterday and I was inspired to design, create, write, and mail some new stationery! Americans Love Letters is an organization that promotes writing letters (1 a month) every month to keep the USPS alive. If you know me, you know I am all about stationery, mailing things, and the postal service. I grew up with my Australian and Filipino cousins as my pen pals. I always mail birthday, Valentine's Day, and Christmas cards. I will send countless postcards when traveling. I buy stamps and give them to family members to encourage them to send something out. I heart the mail.

And I want to send some love, brightness, and sparkle your way. If you would like a little note, email your address to me at lovehoneymyheart@gmail.com! I'll send you either one of these cards, postcards I collected while up in Portland, and other handmade stationery ;)

Happy Tuesday!

Give Love Cards

I'm a huge fan of getting letters and cards in the mail, especially "just because" correspondence. It's a little something special that shows care and good thoughts, something that adds a little love to a day. And what's better to add to a day than love?

With my recent blue obsession I thought it would be perfect to create give love cards in shades of blue.

Each card is covered with washi tape, a doily, and a mini envelope. The mini envelope holds 3 hearts, giving love :) You can also personalize what's in the envelope with an extra note or special photo.

Have a lovely Thursday!

Doilies and Presents

As a fan of greeting cards and stationery in general, I like to think receiving a card with a present is like receiving an extra gift. Whatever the card may be, it makes me happy to know that a loved one took the time out to choose something special and write a little bit for the occasion. And since cards are like presents, why not put presents on the cards?

A little doily topped with colorful circle and
Martha Stewart Presents Sticker, all in bright colors are a little something to brighten your day :)

Polka dots are so fun!!

Hot pink, light blue, green, and minty green are some of my favorite colors for summer and show up in these cards. Hooray for bright colors and for summer!

Hearts and a Little Shop Update

We are a little over a month away from one of my favorite holidays, Valentine's Day, and in anticipation of a very lovely day, I've begun to put together some heart themed cards. A few doilies, some Japanese masking tape, glitter heart stickers, and voila: layered love cards :) Look out for more in the next week!!

I've also listed two new items in the honey my heart etsy shop:

A very feminine gold flowers and cream pearl bracelet. Really love how it's reminiscent of a corsage, looking very soft and sweet on your wrist.

And because I can never get enough purple and gold, this flirty and fun purple bead and gold earrings.

Hope everyone is having a good week. Who's excited for the 3 day weekend?!

Christmas Cards 2010

Tis the season for spreading that holiday cheer! I'm old school and will forever love the practice of writing and sending greeting cards, especially during the Christmas season. There's just something about paper products, the time spent writing notes, and sending and receiving them that gives me happiness. Handmade is still my choice, and below are a few of those I'll be sending out this year.

A mix of traditional colors (green and red) and my favorite colors (pink and purple), these cards carry the same doily theme with layers, textures, and decals.

Hope to send these out before within a week :)

Season's greetings and bits of holly.

Peace dove . The dove is one of my favorite images in the paper I purchased, and appears in a lot of my cards.

Layers of doilies and textured red paper with two dove decals.

Gold dove on textured red circle and doily layers.

Gold wreath over green and white printed paper and doily layers.

And two statement cards:

Wishing you JOY!

FELIZ Navidad :)
