Bag Lady
I am all about purses. They are my favorite accessory. Top handles, totes, satchels, hobos, clutches. I love them all.
And I love this LA Times Magazine feature of 50s on Signature Handbags, Cachet and Carry. Illustrations of classic styles by Jameson Simpson showcase the designers and details of some very iconic handbags.
Below are some of my favorite bags. I am no bagsnob, but do hope to add one of them to my collection, eventually.

Walking on sunshine
I love fashion week because it gives me a chance to scout the upcoming trends, and also inspires with everything that comes down the runway. Inspiration found in the cuts, colors, styles, and especially all of the details. My favorite details from the Paris RTW Fall 2009 shows have been the shoes. Amazing shoes! And while I don't have the bankroll to purchase any of these lovelies, I can't help but look and be happy. Whoever has the opportunity to walk in these shoes must definitely be walking on sunshine!

But there's a love in all our souls, and it shines like gold
My brother sent me these awesome shoes for my birthday. They're comfortable, flirty, cute, and gold. I was a bit apprehensive about the color at first thinking it would draw so much attention. But after spending all of Valentine's Day walking in them (Nike Air rules my soles), I realized that the color simply complemented my clothing ensemble. I love these shoes. Their gold colored leather helps dress up any outfit and they are fancy enough to wear as wedding shoes. Gold is a fun color. It's everywhere, from gold medals and gold wedding bands to gold chocolate coins and goldschläger. As a metallic color it is totally glamorous, shiny, and sparkly.

After seeing two beautiful gold dresses in Lela Rose's Fall 2009 collection, I had to create a gold inspiration board. Utilized as highlights in your wedding colors, or as the main color scheme, gold can produce quite an alluring scene.

A Barbie Girl
One of the shows I was excited to see this fashion week was Barbie's 50th Anniversary Show. Barbie was one of my cherished childhood toys and seeing the evolution of her style and look is very inspiring. This show featured 50 designers' takes on Barbie fashion through the years including: Diane Von Furstenberg, Lela Rose, Peter Som, and Nicole Miller.
The fashion was quirky, flirty, pretty, and had shiny embellishments, just like Barbie would wear :) There were even a few dresses that would be super awesome as bridal gowns.
A very pretty gown with lace detailing, black gloves, and a pink Christian Louboutin shoe peeping out.
The flowing fabric on the skirt looks so pretty on the runway, imagine your groom's thoughts when he sees you walking down the aisle in something so fashion forward and romantic.
LA based jewelry designer Tarina Tarantino was at the show. She carries a collection of Barbie jewelry for her line. The jewelry would be perfect accessories for the dresses on the runway and for the Barbie loving bride.
There were some pink dresses that would be super cute on bridesmaids. I love the ruffle looking, butterfly details in this dress.
And you gotta love a dress with tiers.
Lucite bracelet and pendant necklace add sparkle to the above ensembles. These pieces are super cute and super flirty.
Designers also came out with beautiful black dresses. The silver embellishments made the dress pop.
Here is another gorgeous black dress with silver embellishments. I love the retro style and the pink shoes!
This set of necklace and earrings would top the black dresses perfectly.
Of course you can't forget your Ken. Love that bow tie!
The show was a true Barbie dreamland: great and unique fashion, super cute shoes, and lots of pink. It brought back memories of playing dolls and pink everywhere. I'm glad the show produced so many gorgeous pieces.

Runway and fashion stay in my heart: Jason Wu and Monique Lhuillier
New York's Fall 2009 Fashion Week is underway and there have already been plenty of beautiful dresses going down the runway. Dresses to inspire wedding colors, bridesmaids dresses, wedding gowns, and overall style. Mmm I love the eye candy.
Jason Wu, coming off dressing First Lady Michelle Obama, produced a beautiful collection of dresses in delicate textures, cool and bright colors, and all around loveliness. The blue and yellow dresses above would be a perfect ensemble for bridesmaids. The cut and lengths are modest and classic. I love the look of bridesmaids in different dress styles and colors.
Lovely calf, tea, and knee length dresses. I love the flow/movement of the dresses.
The gowns are breathtaking. With different styles and cuts, they're all tied together with similar fabric and texture. I love the tiers of the left gown, soft look of the middle gown, and simplicity of the right gown. All three would look beautiful on a bride.
Monique Lhuillier's collection, although not the 25+ looks of previous seasons, was a presentation of dresses that did not disappoint. The array of details, soft embroidery, and familiar shapes produced very lovely dresses.
The detailed appliques and flourishing fabric look so beautiful on the gold and gray gowns. So lovely for a romantic wedding.
Rich purple and merlot colors, with simple shapes are accessorized with layers of necklaces.
These black gowns say so much while they are adorned so simply. If they were in white they would be such amazing bridal gowns.
This is a great start to fashion week. I'm really excited to see the next ready-to-wear pieces make their way down the runway. There should be plenty of breathtaking inspiration coming up!
