DIY: Mini Heart Cards

Hearts are one of my favorite shapes and I wanted to create little heart shaped labels for Valentine's Day card and gift embellishments. A little die cute heart would be great, but hearts as mini cards are even better. Some brainstorming and practice with my heart punch brought some lovely results. Check below for the step by step DIY.

+You will need a heart punch and some paper. Card stock is fine, but pink glitter paper was necessary ;)
+Fold paper in half. You can use a bone folder for a clean edge.

+Turn the heart punch upside down to see the paper line up. Insert paper with the folded edge on the left, leave a little room on the left side of the heart so the punch doesn't punch all the way through the paper.
+Once punched, the heart will have a little flat edge on the left, but that keeps both sides together.

+Heart opens up and you can write a little note inside.
+If you open it up all the way, you can play with a fun connected hearts design!

A little embellishment goes a long way.

And a little note is always cheerful!

Attached these mini heart cards to your gift tags, mini envelopes, cards, whatever you like.

Have a lovely Thursday!

Baby's First Personalized Piece

These past few months we have been gathering little things we want for our future little one. A few onesies, some art prints, socks, toys, and a couple of books. Each little piece is so adorable, but I think I have a favorite right now. We attended Joey Chou's art show Bedtime Stories at Leanna Lin's Wonderland earlier this month. Art was sold and so were books. Joey is one of my most favorite illustrators and was on hand signing books that were purchased. I picked up his "It's a Small World" book" and was so surprised that he dedicated the book to my coming baby and drew a little illustration!

A quick illustration.

So cute!!

Can't wait to read this book to our baby :)

Painstakingly Made

We spent some of Saturday afternoon at the Painstakingly Made Pop-Up. Held at Geronimo Balloon's studio in Downtown LA, the group of creatives was beautifully curated and so inspiring. I enjoyed seeing brands I am familiar with and discovering new to me brands. It was a superb event.

Table scape of beautiful things.

Scrumptious whoopie pies!

So glad to have discovered Darling magazine.  Their celebration of the art of being a woman is just so inspiring and beautiful.

Packaged frills on the Geronimo Balloon table. So happy we got to meet Jihan and purchase a heart shaped balloon!!

Paper & Type's table of stationery goodness.

And our favorite, salted caramel corn by Z Confections.

I hope there is another one of these.

January Beach Day

With such a cold January thus far, we were blessed with a wonderfully warm 3 day weekend last weekend. Monday was just such a beautiful day that we had to spend some time at the beach. There are a lot of beaches to explore now that we live in LA, and we started with Santa Monica. It's the closest in proximity to us, is quite expansive that you can find your own little plot of sand, and just peaceful.

It's always nice to take a break from the daily grind and soak up the sun.

Hope that you are all having a great week. Thank you all for the comments about my last post! We are definitely feeling all of the love and are so thankful.

So, so happy to announce that the honey my heart is adding another member to the crew... we are having a baby! Hubs and I have been married for 3 years now, are both turning the big 3-0 (well, he already did last Sept), and are looking forward to becoming a family of 3.

I am now in my 25th week and definitely showing. It has been a wonderful pregnancy so far. It's also so wonderful how loving and supportive family and friends have been.I am so thankful for this blessing. And I can't wait to meet the little one :)

I shared a little heart DIY with the awesome Jenni of I SPY DIY a little bit back. Today she put together and styled the wire heart into a sweet necklace. I love it!! Click on over to her blog post for the full DIY and some cool shots of her outfit.

It's been pretty busy at hmh HQ, we are excited for the 3 day weekend and inauguration, and I have a beautiful announcement next week.  Hope you all have a happy Friday!

New Packaging: Gold Boxes, Pink, Green

A New Year means new packaging. I'm such a sucker for pretty boxes, bows, flourishes, hearts, embellishments, etc. and try mightily to add a nice pop to my packages that go out. For this year, I feel like gold is a necessity.

These boxes are accented with our logo sticker and simple bow. Inside you can find a logo card and lovely piece of jewelry. It's simple yet bright. Definitely something I want for this year.

A little sneak peek on a new necklace design, which is an update on a classic hmh necklace.

Lastly, my favorite colors for 2013! What are yours?

Hello 2013

We welcomed 2013 surrounded by friends and family, and have been on the go ever since. Our 2012 was such a beautiful year of growth, adventure, travel, updates, and changes, with plenty of family time and friendships. It was definitely a favorite year for me. And now as we have just started 2013, I welcome it all! Looking forward to more growth, new adventures, evolving design, and fun opportunities. Our first week was full of work for something fab (official announcement soon!) and we can't wait to share our other plans for the future.

Hope that you are all enjoying the New Year.
