Friday Favorite: A Little Gift

One of my favorite things when selling is when someone buys a piece of jewelry from someone else. This week a customer ordered 2 matching necklaces for her 2 sisters. It was such a touching and thoughtful gesture, definitely made my day. I hope the necklaces make the sisters' day, too!

This weekend we are gearing up for the big move. Boxes are beginning to take over, but we are so ready! Hope your weekend is full of favorites.

Lovely Package Exchange

I recently participated in the Lovely Package Exchange organized by oh hello friend. It was a simple swap of small gifts wrapped up in lovely materials to spread holiday cheer. My partner in this swap was Lauren of laurendy home. Her blog was one I was happy to discover and I loved getting the opportunity to share this exchange with her. Below are the packages we mailed each other.


A little "hi" inside of the box for Lauren.


Surprises wrapped in colorful tissue paper. The pieces are tied up with gold and silver rope and a sequin band while a glittery gift tag sits atop it all.


Lauren sent me this awesome mix of neutral and bright! I am in love with the fluorescent color of the bow.

Welcome to the fam, new camera :)

After 4+ loyal years of service, it was time to retire my beat up little Canon powershot SD600 and upgrade to something new. I wanted to stick with a Canon powershot due to brand loyalty and my familiarity with them, so my only other criteria was that the model must have a compatible battery with the one I already have. (I carry an extra camera battery with me in case the current one runs out, so I can never be without). Anywaaaaaaaaaay, there was a Memorial Day sale at Best Buy and I scored a fab Canon powershot SD1400 for a nice price. And it is pink!!


I really love it, but was scared to use it for about a week. It just feels so delicate! Now it is my daily camera :)

Below are a few shots taken by my old and new camera. You can totally see the difference in brighter, crisper, more true to color images.

Old. Sign at Kahuna Grill in downtown SB. It wasn't too bright inside, which prompted the flash to go off.


New camera was able to pick up light and didn't flash!


Old. Fatty food.


New. I like this because it shows exactly how the food looked. And yes, it was delicious.


Old. Flowers with the sun shining in through the window. Flower color looks a bit faded.


New. Yay, this is the actual color of the flowers :)

I'm still learning all of the functions/buttons, and going around to all of my favorite places to take some new photos. Please check out my daily photo blog here.

And here is the new camera folder case I got from photo jojo. Made to resemble a file folder on your computer, it's cushy interior, mouse cursor pin, and fun look makes me smile each time I look at it.

I love: oh, hello friend

Two of my cousins have June birthdays. They are fun, stylish girls who enjoy photography and accessories so I wanted to get both something that represented their styles/aesthetic. I remembered some great pieces I saw on oh, hello friend's etsy shop. After placing the order earlier this week, this is what arrived yesterday.
