DIY: Arrow Sticker Notecards

I recently bought some neon yellow triangle stickers that had to be turned into something awesome. After a little experimenting, the perfect DIY came to mind: turn the triangles into little arrows. Perfect for Valentine's Day, playing with geometric shapes put a nice spin on my regular heart theme cards.

All you need is 2 triangle stickers, some card stock, washi tape, a ruler, and scissors.

 

Layer the card stock, then stick 3.5 inches of washi tape slightly off center.

Next, fold both triangle stickers in half.

Cut one sticker directly in half. For the second sticker, cut 3 slits into it.

Then cut diagonal slits into the sticker.

Once opened, the second sticker will sort of look like an arrowhead.

Stick the arrowhead style sticker to the right side of the tape.

Then stick each half of the other triangle sticker to the left side of the tape.

 And there you have it!

DIY: Mini Heart Cards

Hearts are one of my favorite shapes and I wanted to create little heart shaped labels for Valentine's Day card and gift embellishments. A little die cute heart would be great, but hearts as mini cards are even better. Some brainstorming and practice with my heart punch brought some lovely results. Check below for the step by step DIY.

+You will need a heart punch and some paper. Card stock is fine, but pink glitter paper was necessary ;)

+Fold paper in half. You can use a bone folder for a clean edge.

+Turn the heart punch upside down to see the paper line up. Insert paper with the folded edge on the left, leave a little room on the left side of the heart so the punch doesn't punch all the way through the paper.

+Once punched, the heart will have a little flat edge on the left, but that keeps both sides together.

+Heart opens up and you can write a little note inside.

+If you open it up all the way, you can play with a fun connected hearts design!

A little embellishment goes a long way.

 And a little note is always cheerful!

Attached these mini heart cards to your gift tags, mini envelopes, cards, whatever you like.

An Evening with Rifle Paper at Urbanic

We spent Saturday night at Urbanic (one of my favorite shops) to attend their meet & greet with Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co (my favorite stationery company!!). It was a mellow night of hors d'oeuvres, drinks, LA friends, and paper. Besides all of the wonderful paper goods and stationery supplies carried at Urbanic, there was a whole section dedicated to Rifle Paper with the new holiday collection and exclusive Los Angeles print available. I began getting into the Christmas Spirit while browsing the greeting cards and postcards and wrapping paper, even bought some Christmas place cards and labels to get ready early. And of course I had to purchase the LA print. It represents LA, my home.

The Los Angeles print is the first art piece I put up and is now happily displayed at our new place in LA :)

Right now we are shuffling back and forth between SB and LA, have 2 apartments and are still packing! It's a bit crazy but things are moving along nicely. By next week we say good bye to SB and hello to LA, and as much as I want the time to fly, I also want it to slow down. Hope your week is going well :)

Letterpress Business Cards

After some planning, designing, and waiting, I am so excited to share my new business cards with all of you! I had always wanted letterpress business cards and when I met Victoria of Paper & Type, I knew I had found the perfect person to design them. P&T's style is chic, simple, charming. All perfect for what I was looking for. I sent Victoria my logo and she whipped up something new, clean, and just what I was looking for.

With a vertical design, dotted border, and complementary font, the new honey my heart business card was created! I am so in love with each and every detail. I especially like feeling the letterpress detailing ♥

Recap: UniqueLA 4th Annual Spring Show!

 

The 4th Annual Unique LA Spring Show was a wonderful, stylish, community loving, joy filled one. Located in the bustling downtown LA Fashion District and held during Mothers Day Weekend, the show was full of favorite independent designers and lots of new talent, crowds who loved buying local and their moms. It was high energy, design driven, and awesomeness.

 Our row before the doors opened. We shared the row with awesome foods (Cool Haus, I Heart Pies, Z confections), awesome jewelry (fruition), and Caine's Arcade!

It was a very busy weekend, I spent a lot of Saturday making custom pieces and assembling more inventory for styles that were crowd favorites. But a lot of Sunday was spent shopping! I am so glad to have discovered many new to Unique brands, met the awesome people behind the brands, and picked up awesome things.

 The Birds and the Beasts. I need their "We Did it All for the Glory of Love" poster.

 

 Genuine HAHA! So many cute illustrated cards and such a friendly owner!

 

The NinjaBot! They're so awesome and were so happy to be part of Unique! I really liked their colorful prints and positive attitude.

Caposhi Jewelry! I was quite impressed by their set up and collection. Especially liked their Morse Code necklaces that utilized Czech glass and coral beads.

Miguez had one of my favorite table set ups. Designed so perfectly, it was like I was in her own little pop up shop.

 

 LOK'D always rocks. I heart their re-purposing of Lego pieces into stylish accessories.

LOVE NAIL TREE always brings it.

Amanda of KYYOTE is an artist. I was so happy to finally meet her (we'd been twitter friends for a while) and pick up a custom bracelet. She's so sweet and her table was styled so perfectly that I thought I was looking at art and not jewelry.

I found an awesome yellow/citron tablecloth at Anthropologie and knew it had to be my focus element. Every component was built around it. There were clean white blocks, yellow hearts, paper flowers, and purple canvases. We created a yellow, white, and purple lantern backdrop and hung my new wood sign. I like the look, it's very Spring! It will transition nicely to summer :)
