Rings on Friends

Since the show last weekend, I have stumbled upon a few photos posted by some awesome honey my heart friends. Seeing my designs worn by others fills my heart and seeing how the photos are styled is inspiring. The above photo was instagramed by Jenni of I Spy DIY.

Dotted Ring and Brass Heart Ring look super cute next to the Oh, Hello Friend wood magnets. Loved how Miriam of simplyxclassic styled it.

Rose and Sparkle Collage Rings

Because bright and bold colored roses are not always enough, pairing them with other rose charms and swarovski crystals is necessary. Combined together in a collage design, these little bits and piece make up a nice statement ring.

A little deeper in color.

And bright for the summer days.

It's a ring that plays with textures and mixes colors. No rules in the design, just fun. Kinda like summer :)

Tonight is Lakers Ring Night! As the final celebration and reward from last season's championship, the team will receive their 2009-10 championship rings before they open the 2010-11 season. I am so amped to watch the ceremony and so excited for this new season to start.

In honor of their Ring Night, I created a few special rings for the esty shop. Keeping with the filigree flower theme from yesterday, the rings are in the same style and come in different colors.





They are adjustable, delicate, and sweet :) Their dimension and details come together as a subtle statement maker.

Double Flower Rings

I love a great cocktail ring. Anything with sparkles, charms, flowers, hearts... basically anything that makes a statement. I always wanted to incorporate rings into my etsy shop, but had trouble finding a unique base for the rings. Luckily I stumbled upon these great vintage brass rings. With their adjustable settings and double charm pads, they fit my needs perfectly.








Each ring comes with two places to glue a charm.


Simply separate the pads.


Then glue one flower charm, hold in place for a bit, set aside for it to dry (I usually wait 2 days), and then glue the other.


The finished product wraps around your finger in a fun and flirty way. I love that (when worn) sometimes, in some angles, it looks like the flowers are floating on your finger (does that even make sense?) Overall it is an interesting piece and very sweet. The Los Angeles Lakers are, once again, World Champions.

My emotions are a flutter, my mind is still racing, my google reader is overflowing, and my heart is happy.

It's no surprise that I love the Lakers. I have blogged about them here, here, here, here, and here. The fiance and I are quite happy that we chose purple and gold as our wedding colors. After all, the Lakers are our team.

While watching the Lakers parade and rally earlier this week, coach Phil Jackson said something that struck me. He mentioned the team's goal was winning the championship ring and stated, "The ring... It's not just this band of gold, it's the circle that's made a bond between all the players. A great love for one another. A great feeling."

It's such a beautiful thought and sentiment we can carry over when thinking about our wedding. Through all the planning, budgets, shopping, and meetings, it's important to not lose sight of the goal we are working towards: our wedding and our marriage.

The Kawaii Not is a collection of super cute comics by Meghan Murphy. Each one is adorably cheeky in humor, "the comic for the cute gone bad." When I saw the above comic, a smile came to my face :) Rings are so beautiful and stylish and symbolic, yet it's the marriage that's important.

We have been paying visits to our local Tiffany & Co to look at some wedding bands for the mister. His criteria was for something simple in platinum that wouldn't be too big or small on his ring finger. He already wears a 4mm ring on his right ring finger, so 4mm would be a good size to balance his hands out.

While trying on some styles, we spotted three that we were definitely drawn to. They were the Lucida, band ring, and five row band ring. All were cool, and I totally support my love's choice since he will be wearing it and has his own cute sense of style, so the final decision was his. It was just funny, though, that the one that I fancied most was slightly different to his choice. I really liked the five row band ring while he was leaning toward the much simpler 4mm band ring. As we compared the characteristics of the two, our consultant mentioned that the 4mm band ring has a more traditional look, and then we knew which one he was meant to have.

The five row band ring is still my favorite. The ridges provide texture that I really like.


My love and I have two different styles that somehow meet in the middle. He's traditional with some modern interests. I am modern with some traditional values. He's like an argyle sweater while I'm a wave printed cardigan. I hope that makes sense. Here is more evidence of the style per our closet.

While browsing the Tiffany site over the weekend, I saw the above photo on their home page. How cool that my engagement ring is featured in the film Bride Wars!

I'm looking forward to seeing the film and hoping my love will tag along. It premieres this Friday, January 9, so we'll try to catch a showing that weekend. I don't know why I like the photo of Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway chatting and holding their rings so much. I think maybe because I touch my ring like five times a day to make sure it's there. Definitely excited to starting 2009 with a romantic comedy.

Side Note: Here is a little teaser from our save our date cards :) We've been going through the proofing process and the cards should begin the printing process on Monday. I'm totally excited!

Put a ring on it

Anne Ruthmann wrote a very informative/kickass blog post on WeddingbeePRO about photographing one's engagement ring. Informative because it gave me, a regular person with a point and shoot camera, good details for taking a good ring shot and kickass because the results rocked. For as long as I've been trying to take photos of my ring, I don't think I would have been able to get these shots without such a good tutorial.

I took off my ring, gathered together my favorite scarf and a cute toy, opened the blinds for better natural light, balanced the ring, set the camera, leaned in, and just took shot after shot. It was a bit difficult to get the ring to balance while on the scarf. There just wasn't enough structure to the scarf material, but I love the color so I ended holding the ring under the scarf to keep it steady. The toy I chose is Badtz Maru, a Sanrio character I got in a HelloKitty blindbox. Hello Kitty is my favorite character but the Badtz Maru toy is covered with diamond designs so it was only natural to pose the ring on him.

After playing with the zoom and trying very hard to keep still and keep the frame focused, I figured I had taken enough photos. Maybe too much. I couldn't wait to upload to the computer. There were plenty of blurry shots, but there were also a nice amount of clear shots. I am really happy how they turned out. :) Thanks to Anne!

It's like he's looking at the ring. Too funny. I really like the look of the ring resting on the Badtz Maru toy. I think it's the black/white/gray coloring that makes me like it so.
