Not just anybody

Upon our decision to work with a day-of coordinator, the next step was to create a short list of who we wanted to work with. After browsing so many sites and blogs, our list was a bit long, so to facilitate the decision/narrow down the list, I considered their style (design and personal), their variety of work (big, small), the vendors they've established relationships with, the voice of their blogs, and how their style complemented ours. I was also looking for a fun, positive personality.

There are a great deal of very talented, established, and successful coordinators in Santa Barbara, but the coordinator I really wanted to work with was Angel Swanson of Love and Splendor from LA. I admire her fresh, modern style and am impressed with all of the wedding she's coordinated. Her site has so many beautiful photos of different themed events (Malibu Modern, Style & Grace, Romance by the Sea) while her blog is filled with more behind the reporting and personal stories. I feel her experience combined with our vision/theme can work out very well. She's also worked with our photographer, caterer, and baker before. All these facts made me confident in our decision to choose to work with her.

From our initial emails, Angel has been such a sweet person and very interested in our theme and style. I had budget woes a few months ago and couldn't book her. After plenty of consideration and even more budget adjustments we found a way to work with Angel. Because months had passed since our initial emails, she had already scheduled a wedding on our date (and could have said no) but was so very accommodating and offered a sort of compromise. She would work with us through the planning process and her sister, Anna (the lead assistant), would be our day-of coordinator. Her confidence and willingness to work things out has been a welcome light in our never ending wedding planning :) And I'm so happy to work with her! Below are a few photos Angel has coordinated.

I love the details of this reception lay out, especially the use of Chinese lanterns.

The flower color, statement lighting, and stationery details of this wedding is so luxurious.

And love the fresh feeling of this Santa Barbara wedding Angel coordinated last November.

How did you choose your wedding coordinator? Were there any roadblocks or was it easy to book them?
