Street Art at UCSB
I love noticing fun street art pieces around town. Graffiti, posters, stencils, stickers, it is all creatively cool. Downtown Santa Barbara is full of so much pretty, nice architecture, and art installations, but where I find the most street art is UCSB. With it's younger, freer, funner population, UCSB is more prone to street art and some pieces rarely get covered up. I love walking around between buildings and during lunch and noticing new things. Things that aren't suppose to be there. I have been spotting more and more on a daily basis, and here are a few of my favorites.
Sloth is sad :(
Power lines and birds.
Roy G Biv chalk art.Vinyl art.
This musically resonant piece was by the Music Department in Spring Quarter and has been taken down.
One night stand. Also up during Spring Quarter but taken down quickly.
Mr. Roboto.I could not put trash in this!Reverse graffiti.
There is a really dusty door by the library and this t-rex was made by wiping the dust away. It's like cleaning!Sticker.
I took a longer route on my way back from lunch a few weeks ago and saw this shadow man. It is just too cool!
Cute sticker.
More cute stickers.
Stenciled stickers.
Stencils.
Some have messages.
And some are just fun!
Peace grenades.
Four different stencils by Storke Tower.
Men standing guard.
And a happy face!I love the nature of street art. I love seeing the unexpected in the everyday. I love that statements can be made, but there are also pieces that are just a lot of fun!Have you seen any fun art around your town?

Oh those are so cool! I wish we had some interesting street art around here. That went away during Guiliani days... :)
Hope you had a great weekend!
Very cool! I'm going to send this post to my brother. I wonder if he recognizes any of these street art pieces. Thank you for sharing!

I have noticed that those little electricity reader-housing boxes are beginning to be covered with art. I saw some painted with sea creatures...

How fun! I love the robot trash can and one night stand :)
Wow! This is quite a collection you have amassed. I'm jealous of your interesting SB walks, I'm surrounded by strip malls and Starbucks!
@Mo: the walks are fun! it is so easy to get lost in my surroundings when i'm not distracted by stores and starbucks, although i would love to have a starbucks close by :)
