The RSVP postcards have been steadily trickling into our mailbox over the past few weeks. As I received them, I noted their responses on our spreadsheet, organized them in "yes" and "no" ziplock bags, and have loved reading the "words of wisdom" that various guests have left for us. And while we have a stack of responses, we are definitely missing a good amount.
Since our "reply by" date has come and gone, and after giving guests a few days of leeway for their responses to arrive, we have begun contacting them. We really don't want to "bother" them with phone calls, emails, facebook messages, or BBMs, but there is just a lot that rides on each guests' response/our final guest count.
Without a final guest count: I can't alert the baker about the amount of cupcakes to make, tell our caterer how many guests to anticipate/food to prepare/tables to arrange/items to rent, provide names to our calligrapher for the escort cards, and sit down with my fiance to assign guests to tables. It's not yet crunch time, and we are okay with giving everyone a few more days, but the sooner the better.
We hope to have everything set by the end of the week :)
Have you had to track down guests to get their responses? Did you find it difficult?

this sounds like this is when things get stressful for everyone.
why can't people just send them in on time!?
I'm far from that point, but I did go through this for my sister's shower. It was a sit down meal, so we needed final numbers. Some people I contacted in up to four ways and still no response. It's tough. Hopefully people start rsvping soon!
I imagine we'll have the same problem. I'm good at bothering people though. =D
Good luck!
How exciting to get the rsvps! I'm not at this stage yet, but I will be doing the save the dates this week since we finally got a venue.
we made phone calls. it was terrible, and annoying, but needed to be done. my mom did most of the callin for people i really didn't know. people didn't return our phone calls, and we ended up leaving some messages like 'if we don't hear from you by monday we'll assume you can't make it'. it really sucked, but it was accomplished. :)
I find it crazy people don't respond. I'm nowhere near this stage yet but I imagine I will become agitated! To say the least.
I sort of love the smiley and sad faces on the bags!
I love how you put them in ziploc bags! lol. Hopefully they'll all come in rush soon.
OMG yes i did! it was really stressful too. i think people just don't realize how important it is to rsvp by the given date. so many things depend on the count.
good luck getting the rest of your responses. i hope its as painless as possible! :)
I love the ziplock organization!
Umm yes, you have to call or e-mail. Sometimes multiple times. It will also change because stuff always comes up. Sigh.
