Suprasensorial and Some Sneaky Photos at MOCA

A quick trip to LA last Saturday brought us to Japantown for lunch and a visit Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. My cousin Nicole of dans les details recently blogged her visit to the Suprasensorial: Experiments in Light, Color, and Space exhibit and after seeing the photos, I was really excited to experience it for myself.

Being able to explore an exhibit, walk into an installation, touch and experience the art was quite stimulating and interesting. Going from light to dark to colorful, and being able to see each installation from different angles and points of view gave hubs and I a chance to get lost for a while.

Lumiére en mouvement-installation, Julio Le Parc. A dark room with by two spotlights and stainless steel moving squares, the waves of reflections were calming.

Struttura al neon per la IX Triennale di Milano, Lucio Fontana.

Reminding me of graffiti and scribbles, this was my favorite installation.

Cromosaturación, Carlos Cruz-Diez. This installation was divided into 3 rooms. Each room was clean and minimal, illuminated by green, red, or blue fluorescent lights. The colors you see change as you move from room to room, providing a great experience to the senses.

Feeling green.

Standing in the middle of the three rooms.

Hubs wearing booties (no shoes were allowed in there) and snapping shots.

Our reflection.

I love all of the colors and how they change as we moved around.

Penétrable BBL bleu, Jesús Rafael Soto.

Being able to walk through these blue plastic string was a true sensory experience. Walking forward, backward, sideways. Too much fun.

There were no photos allowed in the rest of the museum, but I rebelled and took a few when the guards weren't looking ;)

A dark room where different projectors told the story of Alice in Wonderland, word by word.

Wall of inspirational people and quotes.

Art and museums are always fun and inspirational. I'm so happy to have visited this space. Can't wait for future exhibits!!

Happy Friday everyone :)
