While my bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses, I wanted some of their accessories to coordinate. Two of my all-time favorite accessories are clutches (I always carry one) and the ever popular hair flower. What better accessories to gift them than the ones I love? Plus a clutch can hold all the necessities and a flower adds fun.Having decided on my wedding clutch months ago, I soon realized that it did not really match my dress and shoes. After using it during the rehearsal, I decided to give it to my sister for the wedding day. To coordinate with the style and material of said clutch, I found these great ones also by JCrew.
Yellow for the bmaids, a flowery yellow one for my sis/MOH, and a purple one for me. Sized well to hold phones, lip gloss, tissues, cameras, wallets, and sunglasses, the girls loved them!To complete their look, I purchased hair flowers/anywhere clips from my favorite LA based jewelry designer, Taraina Tarantino. After purchasing my hair flower a few months back, I knew the bmaids' hair flowers had to be TT creations. The craftsmanship, details, and sparkles are quite lovely and fitting for the occasion.
Here are our hair flowers laid out on one of the ribbon boards. I also purchased hair flowers for my cousins who would read at the ceremony and take charge of the wish bowl at the reception.

My cousin D took these photos in the bridal suite as we were getting ready. Purple and yellow are so amazing together.Below are the flowers in their hair.

One of my favorite bridal fashion trends is the hair flower. Be it a headband or a clip, real or fake, there is just something so natural, chic, and beautiful about a flower one's hair. I have always planned on wearing a hair flower rather than a headband with a flower (my head is big and headbands give me headaches), so my decision became: natural flower vs hand-made, fabric flower. A real flower would bring the natural look. Gardenias are my favorite flower and the look is just so classic and sweet. The fragrance would carry throughout the ceremony, and I ordered one from our florist to match my bouquet and my groom's boutonniere. The gardenia also a Billie Holiday signature :)The only draw back is how long the gardenia would last before it fades or wilts. Being outdoors mostly and in the summer heat might not bode well for the pretty flower.
So how do I get the same effect to last the night? A fabric flower became my great alternative because it will last beautifully for the entire day, and it can be worn over and over again. Fabric flowers can also be customized through the colors, small adornments (pearls, crystals, feathers), and similar fabrics as your dress. Oh my deer flowers are chic.Beautiful Jennifer Behr creations are so luxurious.Twigs & Honey hair flowers are so delicately pretty :)For my fabric flower, I purchased this beautiful yellow lace flower anywhere clip by Tarina Tarantino.
The delicate flower is adorned with Swarovski crystals, measuring about 4 inches.

The clasp is quite strong. I sometimes have trouble with hair accessories since they tend to slide off my hair, but this securely fastens without any problems.
I love that it's so bright and cheery.
I guess this makes me a two hair flower bride, wearing the gardenia for the ceremony and formal photos, and the fabric flower for the reception and fun times after :) Will you be wearing a hair flower? Did you choose natural or fabric? Blog title is from lyrics by Social Distortion
