Sweetness of the flowers: Cana Flowers

Flowers are one of my favorite things. I love when wildflowers bloom on the sides of the freeways and on the bluffs, when the cherry blossom and coral trees bloom on campus, when daffodils are $.99 a bunch at Trader Joe's, when girls wear then in their hair and on their clothes. I love flowers so much that even on my modest budget, I knew there had to be lots present at my wedding. Many of the florists I spoke to enjoyed my inspiration and ideas, but they could not make my budget work. One even said that it couldn't be done! Well, that was until I met Joey Molina of Cana Flowers. He was kind, enthusiastic, and more than willing to work with us. We met a few times and were so happy with our centerpiece mock-up that excitement built up for how all of our wedding day flowers would look. And on the day, I think he definitely delivered some amazing, fun, and cheerful.

All photos are by Sarah K Chen Photography.

Our bouquets were my favorite. The bridesmaids had purple carnations and yellow gerber daisies with buds glued to their center. Light weight, simple, and fanciful.

My bouquet gerber daisies, roses, and a gardenia. It was full, had depth, and was waaaaay heavy. Being all white, the petals began to lose their color, but that was more due to the heat and us not putting it in water during the afternoon. But it's okay because I still love it.

Our flower girl carried an adorable yellow carnation pomander.

I did not notice the arrangements for the church until half way through our ceremony. Guess I was preoccupied :) I do love the vibrant hues and how the design and placement of flowers complements the Mission's style.

The arrangements were left at the Mission for their Sunday masses.

Our reception centerpieces were instant guest favorites.

The variety of flowers, bright hues, and "abundance" (each table had 5 vases while other vases were scattered through out the room, so it looked like more than it actually was) were mentioned a lot.

And the carnations were a definite pleaser :)

Joey of Cana Flowers was so amazing to work with. He loved our ideas, suggested ones we had not thought of, and worked our style and budget into each flower detail. He is so professional, flexible, courteous, and kind. We were really lucky to have him as part of our wedding team :)

The flowers look so amazing...I absolutely love the colors. So vibrant and fun! And the vases are the perfect touch. Your bouqet was gorgeous too. Even though we've discussed it a few times, I still don't really know what my bouquet is going to look like :) Leaving it in my florist's talented hands.

Oh wow, I am in love with your centerpieces. So simple and beautiful! I, too, had difficulties finding a florist that would work within our budget.

I love the flowers! My favourite are the carnations. So pretty but still so fun, especially in those vases. It so good to hear that you found a florist that worked within in your budget.
