DIY Gold Leaf Workshop

Together with Arts Restore LA, Unique LA held an awesome DIY Gold Leaf Workshop at the Hammer Museum. Taught by Vanessa Hernandez of The Vaguely, this workshop was a fun way to learn to and play with gold leaf.

We were given some adhesive, a sheet of gold leaf, some masking tape, and a triangle dish. Then we were free to play!

I liked the geometric lines of the triangle dish, so I worked off that with lots of lines and some asymmetry. I also tried to make the letter "H". It was fun and messy and a lesson in patience, and definitely golden!

The final pieces! It definitely take a lot of practice, but I'm encouraged to keep working with gold leaf.
