Local Love: Artists Making A Street Scene

Santa Barbara is not really known for any sort of street art scene. Yes, there are murals and mosaics, yet those are all commissioned by the city. Luckily the lack of cultivation on street art by local artists has been changing thanks to the organization Artists Making A Street Scene. Street art has been coming up!!

On Mason and Helena between State Street and Anacapa lies the Funk Zone. An area for the creative community, there are events held, art installations, block parties, and creative expressions. Last year there was this event, and this year's event brought a few new street art murals!

"Give Pix a Chance" by Scott Dosch.

"be love" by Vanae Rivera/Mary and the Machine.

And a yarn bombed pole!

It's so great to see the local scene continue to grow and creativity flow. How's the street art scene in your neighborhood?

Cool! We have art fairs a couple times a year, but no real street art culture.

I'm all about some street art! Hubby started it with his Banky obsession and now I'm completey fascinated. This is so neat! And how awesome is that yarn bombed pole?!!

Love the knitted pole! Beautiful colours too!

My city is very arty, most of the gallery's are free to enter and people paint on most of our streets as long as it isn't raining!

You live in such a fabulous city! New York used to be more like that but I'd say in the past 15 years we've lost a lot of street art unfortunately.

I love the different styles! Ooh and I wish there was a bigger art street scene here (this place is very straight laced!)

The art scene in SF isn't bad, glad to see it's picking up in SB!
