Super Kawaii: Three Apples

Spent my Halloween afternoon at Royal/T to see the Three Apples Exhibit celebrating 35 years of my favorite cat, Hello Kitty. I'd been anticipating this show since the announcement months ago, and then seeing photos from blogs (Hello Kitty Junkie, LAist, Shrinkle, the Sparkle Factory) got me soooooo excited for a cuteness overload. Hello Kitty is one of my favorite things, I still collect merchandise and even had Hello Kitty cake toppers, so I could not pass this up :)

Below are some photos I took of the exhibit. There are a lot of photos.

A grass/greenery wall covers the front facade of RoyalT cafe, while the doorway is crowned with a pink neon light.

The Hello Kitty Three Apples design is sprawled across both windows.

All Hello Kitty fans must visit!

We arrived at 12noon on Saturday, October 31st. There was a line formed out the door (which was expected) and this cute bulldog wearing it's Hello Kitty costume (which we didn't expect).

Such a cutie and a definite crowd favorite :)

The line to enter the pop-up shop lasted about 35 minutes. But if you wanted to walk around the gallery or eat at the cafe, you could just walk right in.

This hot air balloon greeted you at the entrance. You can sit in the basket and take photos. So cute!

This is the only photo I took inside the shop, me wearing a big red bow head band. Totally wanted to buy it, but my head is humongous and the head band slips right off. Oh well. I did buy most everything else in sight. It was all just too cute. And yes, those are Hello Kitty earrings.

RoyalT cafe has a bar and tables in the middle of their space. You can enjoy beers or have tea and small snacks. These Japanese welcoming cats that sit on the bar were too cute!

Since we visited on Halloween, there was some themed decor up.

Hello Kitty in costume and cute painted pumpkins. Oh how I wanted to take one of these home.

This was my favorite pumpkin. It also gives me inspiration for next year's Halloween!

This 3 foot Hello Kitty statue and play house were also decorated for the occasion.

Little kids could not pass her up.

And neither could I!

I really love the attention to detail that was apparent through out this exhibit. Here is a photo of inside the playhouse, the characters are in masks for Halloween!

A corner of the play house.

And the side was decorated as well.

Much of the front area of Royal/T was dedicated to Hello Kitty items. Rooms were set up certain themed goods, all enclosed by glass. Below are a few details.

Coin banks :)

Telephone.

iRobot. Would love to have this vacuuming my house for me :)

Hello Kitty's family.

Not sure what this is, but there are cameras in each eye!

Airplane items.

Sushi sets.

Hello Kitty in crystals. This item is on my dream wish list.

Bathroom items.

A very cute Hello Kitty tin. I was so happy to see this in the exhibit because I have one at home! Years and years ago when I was in elementary school, I saved up all of these Sanrio stamp cards. For each dollar spent you receive a stamp on a card. Fill the card up and get a free gift. I filled up 10 cards and got the tin. It is one of my fave Hello Kitty items and I still have it to this day :)

Of course I had to pose by it ;)

Kitchen ware.

Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel.

School items.

A bouquet! This would be such a fun bouquet to carry down the aisle.

Hello Kitty desk and desk accessories.

Food items. I have that huge plastic jar on the upper right, it was filled with jelly but now I use it as a coin bank.

Guitars.

More cuteness.

Hello Kitty plush.

More plush. So adorable!

Colorful plush in one of those toy vending machines where you use a claw to grab items. This was a popular location and many people were able to score something cute.

Spotted Tarina Tarantino Pink Head jewelry. Sooo cute!

And some sparkles by Kimora Lee Simmons.

Also spotted Hello Kitty outfits. The above was worn by Paris Hilton.

Here is the stuffed animal dress Lady Gaga wore.

This was my fave Lady Gaga Hello Kitty photo.

Because the shoes are bananas!

Lastly here is a set of prints of Hello Kitty through out the years. So amazing to see how much she's changed but stayed the same.

And here is 1982 and 1983, the years the mister and I were born, respectively.

The sign on the door biding adieu.

This is a must visit for all fans of the cool cat. A feast for the eyes and ode to all things cute. The exhibit is up until November 15th.

Up next, the JapanLA Hello Kitty Gallery!

Are any of you huge Hello Kitty fans like me???
